Our Purpose

 We exist to see all peoples rejoice in the glory of God.

It has long been said that the purpose of humanity is to “glorify God and enjoy Him forever” (Westminster Catechism). God is not only great, He is good!  God displays His greatness by His goodness and this is the root of all our joy.  We aspire to see, and be a part of, leading people from every “tribe and language and people and nation” (Revelation 5:9) to experience the inexpressible joy of salvation because of who God is and what He does for us.

We are a family of scripture-empowered disciples.

Our goal as a church is to be faithful to what the Bible teaches.  Only by joining together as a body of believers can we become who God has designed us to be.  Before anything else, we are disciples – learners – of Jesus.  We pay close attention to everything scripture says with the prayer that the Holy Spirit would equip us for every good work.  Most commonly, we do this through exposition – going through the Bible verse by verse.

The mission is how we will see our blessed future (Vision) come to fruition.  We pray for Christ’s Kingdom to come, and believe God will advance it through three equally important ways: 

We are Praising our glorious God:

God is supremely glorious, for there is no one like Him.  He is ultimate in power, wisdom, and goodness.  We give testimony to this and exalt His name among the nations through gathered worship.  This is when an assembly of people proclaim together, “Jesus is King!” in joyful, adoring praise.  In assembled praise, we learn to thank God for everything, adore Him for all He is, and submit to Jesus in all circumstances, trusting he is our Good Shepherd.  Jesus is the center of our lives, Sunday is the center of our week, and fellow believers the center of our relationships.

We are Participating in the church:

Our hope is to learn from God’s Word and Spirit so that we may worship and imitate Him in appropriate ways.  Participating in the church means more than showing up on Sunday, and more than simply “being involved.”  It primarily means that “speaking the truth in love, we…grow up in every way into…Christ” (Ephesians 4:15).  In gathering all throughout the week, we are able to speak to one another words that grow the Kingdom’s power within us so that we are able to plant and water fresh Kingdom seeds.

We are Proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ:

God’s people help equip us to wisely, innocently, and boldly tell other people about the good news of Jesus – that our great King paid for the sinful debt of all who believe in Him through his substitutionary death on the cross.  We do individually as missionaries within our community, as a congregation (through Praising and Participating), and through pooling our resources to equip and send missionaries throughout the world.
